Abstract :
Diversified Technologies Inc. has designed and built solid-state modulators for high power radar transmitters employing large klystrons and TWT amplifiers. Results indicate that this approach would be benefit a wide range of high power magnetron oscillators because it uses similar components and topologies as those required for high stability operation of magnetron-based radar transmitters. In this paper, the various circuit approaches employed will be described, and the specifications and details of recently developed K band and Ka band systems will be discussed. Waveform data is also presented.
