Abstract :
This study aims to propose a hybrid linear switched reluctance motor (LSRM) with embedded permanent magnets in the stator teeth. The characteristics of the machine are investigated by the equivalent magnetic circuit. Both theoretical and FEM results demonstrate that an enhanced magnetic field can be obtained with more propulsion and average force output. Analysis from FEM also proves that the proposed hybrid LSRM has low force ripple under normal operation with current excitation level at 5 A or above.
