Abstract
A novel bandwidth enhancement method based on capacitive degeneration and active inductive peaking techniques is proposed. Based on this method, a CMOS Regulated Cascode (RGC) transimpedance amplifier (TIA), which is implemented with silicon based 0.18μm 1.8V CMOS technology, is presented. Simulation results show that the transimpedance gain of the TIA is 61.23dB, the bandwidth is 5.12GHz, the average noise current spectral density is 11.4 pA /√(Hz), the output eye-diagram is clean, and the power consumption is only 18.4mW.
