Abstract
Antenna or array antenna systems based on metallic photonic bandgap structures are considered. An efficient explicit method is used to obtain quickly the radiation characteristics and design various types of metallic photonic bandgap antennas. Numerical results are presented and compared with those obtained by the method of moments and the FDTD method. A resonant antenna with high directivity is designed
