Abstract :
A novel microwave acoustic technique to measure the water content in a sample is proposed. The sample is mounted in a microwave acoustic cell made of a standard waveguide, a mica window and a microphone. A modulated X-band signal fed to the sample produces an acoustic wave at the modulation frequency. The acoustic output voltages decrease linearly with increased water content in the range from 65% to 95%
