Abstract :
The design of a fuzzy logic controller for an inverted pendulum system is described in this paper. A brief review of the basics of the fuzzy logic controller and its relationship to a conventional controller is first given. Then, the derivation of a fuzzy control algorithm for an inverted pendulum is described in detail. The proposed fuzzy control is evaluated by simulation. The basic performance of fuzzy logic control (FLC) and conventional control are compared. Finally, general ideas for designing fuzzy logic controllers and descriptions of FLC for industrial automation are presented
