Abstract :
This paper discusses the sensorless current control of a slowly rotating permanent-magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) in the condition of a fault during which the excitation of one phase is prevented. Assuming a zero leakage inductance, it is shown that auxiliary three-phase variables can be defined for which during faulty operation, the fault-free three-phase machine model is valid. Hence, by using these auxiliary variables, most sensorless methods developed for three-phase PMSMs can be applied to the aforementioned faulty PMSM drive.
