Abstract

One of the main thrusts of Switzerland´s promotional activities in the field of photovoltaics has been in the area of schools and the educational sector. In 1992, Switzerland launched a promotional program for public schools. By the end of 1997, it is anticipated that there will be about 1.2 MWp of grid connected PV-plants in the public schooling sector as well as in engineering colleges. Further development of the market will not be possible with public sector finance alone. The emphasis must be on partnership between producers and consumers. Now promotional models are being tested by some utilities
