Abstract
In this paper, a systematic design method of a PSRM including the design consideration and optimization procedure is proposed for 2-D positioning applications. This paper is organized as follows. In Section II, structure and operation principle of the PSRM are described. Section III presents the design criteria and considerations of the design for the PSRM. In section IV, an optimization design and characteristic analysis of the PSRM are performed using 2-D and three-dimensional (3-D) finite elements analysis (FEA). In section V, a prototype of the PSRM based on the design method is manufactured and experimental verification is given.
