            Abstract : 
For L⩾2, M⩾8, and transmission rate R=(log2M-1) bit/sym, a method for constructing geometrically uniform (GU) trellis codes with L×MPSK constellations is proposed and it is shown that the maximally achievable free distance is twice as large as was previously reported for GU codes with L×MPSK constellations
