Abstract :
This paper investigates various channel coding options for wireless local area networks. The channel is impaired by multipath fading, intersymbol interference, and additive noise. Three equalization options are considered: linear equalization, decision feedback equalization, and maximum likelihood sequence estimation. Three high rate coding options are also considered: Hamming codes, Reed-Solomon codes, and punctured convolutional codes, both with and without interleaving.
