Abstract
This paper describes a position sensorless drive system for the PMSM. The inverter is controlled using the over-modulation range at high speed in order to increase the torque and output power at high speed and to expand the operating range. The position and speed are estimated based on the estimation of an extended electromotive force in the rotating frame. In this paper, a sensorless control method for the PMSM that uses the over-modulation range is proposed, and the control performance of the PMSM is verified experimentally.
