Abstract :
Online text reporting during telemedicine sessions ranges from infrequent to non-existent. Computed solutions for the immediate creation and relaying of text were developed by analyzing paper-based work methods. Then, information processing mechanisms were programmed through 80 screens carrying 200 functions to automatically create medical reports. Other supports enabled report storage in a relational database, document messaging by fax or ASCII translations for the Internet, operator-commanded reviews of archived data for decision support, and outcome analysis of any encoded fact in relation to any other. After experience with 115,000 medical records over some 15 years, online reporting for telemedicine appears possible. Information creation and its management is made comprehensive, and text transmissions can be made concurrent with visual image exchanges
