Abstract :
The ITRON standard is the specification of the real-time operating system for embedded computer applications. It is the first output of the TRON project started in 1984. ITRON was implemented on various microprocessors and became commercially available. However, enhancement was needed because of the appearance of high performance microprocessors due to the evolution of semiconductor technology. This paper explains the design concept and functions of the revised ITRON specification, and describes both implementations, and future plans to enhance the standard
