Abstract :
DRDC Ottawa is exploring new concepts for communications electronic warfare (CEW) architectures and processes. Major areas of research and development include wideband CEW sensors, data analysis and processing, architectural concepts for the integration of sensor and analysis technologies into a unified framework, and the simulation of complex CEW systems. Several major system components have been developed. A wideband CEW sensor provides the core functionality required for radio surveillance on the modern battlefield. To efficiently process and fuse the large volumes of resulting data, a new architecture for signal analysis has been evolved. A sophisticated simulation environment permits the exploration of sensor and signal analysis technologies for research and training. This work lays the foundation for developing the automated and autonomous CEW capabilities that are essential for supporting network enabled operations and reducing the cost and risk of deploying CEW assets
