This presentation introduces the communications requirements for Smart Metering systems in the UK: • LAN communications within the home for metering (gas and electricity) and home automation (display and appliances) purposes. • WAN communications from the home to head-end computer systems at the energy supplier. These may be direct communications or via street-level data concentrators.
