Abstract :
By directly using JPEG as a basic compression technology, we propose a 3-D stereo image compression system by designing a new pioneering block based predictive coding to achieve extra data compression for all right frames. Two operations are designed for the predictive scheme. One is to search the left frame for the best match for the pioneering block and the other is to select the appropriate predictor to produce errors and compress the errors by JPEG. The scheme can also be applied to any other compression technology such as wavelets and fractals etc
