Abstract
This paper describes a new multiresolution based left ventricular endocardium (LVE) extraction system. By this approach, the LVE extraction from both 2-chamber and 4-chamber apical views, which is the most crucial step for automatic LV volume changes measurement based on the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) recommendations, is possible. The complete automatic system comprising fuzzy centre detection, non-uniform radial data sampling, wavelet based edge detection, and postprocessing and boundary extraction is described. The results for real echocardiographic images are also presented
