Abstract :
We present a new algorithm for active contours in order to analyse the front of motion of snow avalanches. The developed model takes avalanche characteristics and nature of the images into account. The main difficulties lie in the nature of these images and especially in the lack of contrast: a white deformable object has to be tracked on a white background in a sequence of images taken in often poor conditions: in `real conditions´, this sequence of images is not optimized in term of light, distance etc
