Abstract
This paper discusses the main classes of simplified fuzzy models with respect to the general understanding of the defuzzification process. We demonstrate the relationship between the main fuzzy models and the basic steps of defuzzification process-transformation of the possibility distribution inferred by the rule-base of a fuzzy model, conversion into a probability distribution, selection and evaluation of the compatibility between the defuzzified value and the fuzzy subset. As a result we point out how the concept of defuzzification can applied for deriving alternative modifications of the known fuzzy models
