Abstract :
The authors of the paper build a heterogeneous surveillance sensor network concerning the relay transmissions of the sensor network nodes among and within the clusters, based on which a binary work node is built to ensure balanced energy consumption of the network. An analysis is also made on the service life of the network in bin-packing conditions, following which an optimal solution is found to the node distribution in light of the service life constraint of the network. The solution determines the factors affecting the service life of the network which are practically significant to finding effective energy saving plans and prolonging the service life of wireless sensor networks.
