Abstract :
In the fall of 1992 the Indiana Institute of Technology implemented an integrated freshman program in the engineering curriculum which seeks to address the lack of connectivity between the topics in basic science and introductory engineering courses. This program utilizes a five-hour Graphics and Design semester and a five-hour Science semester. The Science semester integrates parts of four courses: General Chemistry, General Chemistry Lab, Introduction ot Engineering, and Graphics & Communications. The Graphics and Design semester integrates parts of three courses: Graphics and Communications, Introduction to CADD, and Introduction to Engineering. The types of projects which are being developed to meet the requirements of a holistic approach to freshman engineering are addressed
