Abstract
The scale-up of a prototype engineering curriculum for 600 students at the University of Maryland is described. It is concluded that scale-up of the ENES 100 curriculum model for freshmen engineering design has been an overwhelming success, as judged by student reactions, faculty reactions, and professional evaluations. Essentially none of the curriculum pilot model ideas had to be discarded because of the large freshmen class. ENES 100 has become a campus model for total quality management. In addition, ENES 100 proved to be an excellent model for outreach programs
