Abstract :
This article proposes a preregulator with high power factor placed between the rectifier bridge and the filtering capacitance. The preregulator is controlled so as to provide a sinusoidal input current in phase with the mains voltage. The chosen technique of correction is based on detection of the line current and its regulation in amplitude and phase with a sinusoidal reference signal. Two topologies are studied, namely the conventional voltage-booster and the modified one. The equations of operation and the expression for the power factor are given. The behaviour of the two topologies is simulated and compared
