Abstract
This paper presents some early results of a research project on the application of static VAr compensators (SVCs) and power system stabilizers (PSSs) to mitigate inter-area oscillations in the Mexican interconnected power system. Eigenvalue-based techniques are used at this first phase to determine the nature of power system oscillations and to provide information on the influence of controllers on power system damping
