Abstract :
The development of wind power generation is an important part for realization of the sustainable development strategy of world energy. For development of wind power generation in China, a nationwide general plan should be formulated, and the specific objectives of different provinces and cities should be taken into account. As is known, Jiangsu province locates at the east coast of China. It is one of the developed provinces and creates about ten percents of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of China. With such rapid economic development, energy needed in Jiangsu has been growing every year. However, since Jiangsu lacks in fossil energy such as coal, oil, natural gas and hydropower resources, it is necessary to input large number of fossil resources which make Jiangsu a typical energy-inputted region. Due to the advantages of environmental friendly and easy-to-get, wind power generation has been paid great attention in Jiangsu to alleviate the contradiction between supply and demand. This paper analyses the wind resources distribution, supply and demand of electric power, wind power penetration level and so forth in Jiangsu Province. Also, plans and some suggestions of wind power development policy are proposed.
