Abstract :
In this paper, resonance oscillations in some parts of industrial power networks stimulated by multiple re-ignitions of vacuum circuit breakers are investigated. Under some conditions, these oscillations result in very high overvoltages, which could lead to motor winding insulation failures. Network simulations are used to study this phenomenon quantitatively and to determine the critical parameter combinations (e.g. critical cable lengths) for the configuration considered here.
