Abstract :
Practical and powerful nonlinear behavioral modeling technology, based on sound scientific and engineering principles, is becoming available for broad deployment in important real-world applications. A flurry of modern behavioral methods for characterizing, modeling, and designing nonlinear components and systems have been introduced from commercial vendors in the past few years. These developments usher in an exciting new era, where progress is expected to be rapid, producing fundamental change in the way the industry works. This article presents a selected survey of the state-of-the-art, key remaining challenges, and future directions for this dynamic and rapidly advancing field. Implications for vendors and consumers of nonlinear components are elucidated.
