Abstract :
A general model is presented for the management of a systems integration program, using an enterprise-wide information systems architecture (ISA) as a roadmap. Integration deals with the technical integration of the elements of an information system, as well as the business integration of the information system with the enterprise. The model addresses both of these challenges. The management model defines the scope of the management process and its essential functions, including systems engineering and prototyping capabilities with a defined set of measures and metrics. The supporting ISA template is comprehensive in the business objectives covered, responsive to changes in the business and technologies, and useful in producing a practical information architecture. Examples are discussed of applications to the manufacturing and financial sectors
