Abstract
This paper investigates systematically the impact of transmission failures occurring in a restructured power system on nodal price. The expected value and the standard deviation of nodal price are introduced to evaluate the effect of random failures. The price fluctuation and the corresponding probability for each system state are also presented. A test system is evaluated to illustrate the technique.
