Abstract :
This paper presents sequence of various critical steps of installation for an experiment aimed at understanding the simulation of vertical handover between WiFi and Wimax using Network Simulator2 (NS2). IEEE 802.21 standard was used to examine the mobility between Wi-Fi and WiMax networks and to study its behaviour during handover using the generated tracefile. The performance analysis and behaviour of packet loss is done while transferring data flows using constant bit rate (CBR) through UDP during successful vertical handovers. Tracegraph Analyzer is used for this analysis and installation process for the same is discussed. This experiment can be used for academic purpose to help students understand the concept of vertical handover.
