Abstract :
The magnetic fields from electric power system have been studied for several years now at Tampere University of Technology (TUT). Several studies have been carried out where exposure to electric and magnetic fields have been measured. Exposure recommendations in force are given by the Council of the European Union and the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP). The recommended current density value is 2 mA/m2 for public exposure. For occupational exposure the recommended value is 10 mA/m2 given by ICNIRP. The aim of this study was to calculate internal current induced by electric and magnetic fields of electric power system and to compare those results with the recommendations in force. The spheroidal calculation model was used. The internal currents calculated in this study were generally quite small.
