Abstract
A navigation method based on stereo vision, compass and encoders is presented. It has been used in an autonomous mobile robot which developed by the group of the authors. The compass and encoders are used complementarily each other to get correct position. 3D vision-based path-planning makes the robot walk along a better path each calculation cycle and avoid bumping other objects. This navigation system is cheap and convenient to create, and its most important advantage is effective in practice.
