  • Abstract
    Online business is growing rapidly for small sized companies in retail industry, but the small companies´ online manufacturing services are less developed. The main reason is that the manufacturing process is very complex. And there are a lot of manufacturing parameters to be chosen. Before the manufacturing process, a deep communication between the client and the manufacturing engineers is necessary. This paper gives a history-case-based rapid prototyping and manufacturing system. This system can help the potential client to choose a proper manufacturing process. It guides the client to choose an equipment, and then to select a material and post-processing method. And when an order is generated, the client can check the manufacturing status, and have an interaction with the engineers. During the whole process, an online customer service program embed in the website can provide an instant interaction if necessary.
