Abstract :
This paper introduces the Prison Breach, an interactive toy prototype designed for children aged 5-8. Using the story of escape and manhunt as background, it endues two robots with the roles of a thief and a policeman. By turning discs on which there prints lines to change the path, users can control the movement of two robots, and they get the feedback whether the thief escapes or the policeman seizes the thief, in this way, the user interacts with the interesting and challenging toy and with other players as well. Taking the Prison Breach for example, this paper puts forward five elements included in good toy design and discusses how to design toy based on mental and behavioral characteristic of children, further, to present F.S.T.S.E design method for toy.
