Abstract
An adaptive controller using ANNs is designed for gross mechanical power output. The controller algorithm is developed by the matching the SCA to the motor load so that the combined system can operate at optimal point. This controller is for use in conjunction with intermediate power converter. The gradient descent algorithm is used to train the ANN. The input to the ANN is solar insolation and the output is converter duty ratio. The duty ratios for different solar insolations are obtained from the trained ANN are compared with computed values. The adaptive controller using ANN is tested for different configurations and the results are close to the computed values.
