Abstract
The rampant use of telecommunication power supplies cause huge harmonic distortion and low power factor at the utility interface. These have to be curtailed so that the cost of the converter and filter components can be brought down. In this paper, a buck converter is used for ac-dc conversion in the proposed telecommunication power supply that takes care of power quality issues at the utility interface. Performance of proposed power supply is demonstrated under varying loads. Various power quality indices such as THD (Total Harmonic Distortion), PF (Power Factor) and voltage ripple are given in the form of tables to validate the design and performance of the proposed converter at varying loads.
