Abstract
In this paper, a criterion is introduced for distributing a Grafcet (function charts) diagram and optimizing its time performance in a distributed system. Grafcet diagrams are used to specify PLC applications. The criterion is based on the localization of the output devices controlled by the PLC application. The distributed system consists of distributed nodes connected by a synchronous real-time network performing broadcast communication. It is shown how a Grafcet diagram originally designed for central processing can be transformed into one that can be executed in a distributed system
