Specialized education in “information management & information system (IMIS)” attracts the attention of experts and scholars both at home and abroad. Based on a survey of the colleges and universities in Ningbo in the field of IMIS and a review of the recent literature on this subject, this paper horizontally compares how the enterprises, colleges and universities, including teachers, students and others, understand the discipline of IMIS, and discusses how to improve the education and understanding of those in the field of IMIS in the following aspects: standardizing the orientation of discipline, improving the quality of teaching, introducing updated teaching materials, strengthening practical teaching, and training students in their relearning ability and all-round quality, to further promote the development of education in this specialty.
