Abstract
The Routh-Hurwitz tabulation is a method for determining the absolute stability of a linear time-invariant system. The Routh-Hurwitz criterion is an algebraic method for determining the location of the roots of the characteristic equation without having to solve the characteristic equation. The Routh-Hurwitz tabulation is a method for applying the Routh-Hurwitz criterion. The tabulation design software determines the absolute stability of systems with characteristic equations of up to tenth order. The software determines the number of roots of the characteristic equation in the right half of the s -plane and displays the table generated. It does not give any information regarding the values of the roots, nor does it distinguish between real and complex roots. The procedure for using the software and its evaluation are discussed. Three examples are examined in detail. The design software yields the correct root distribution in all cases
