Abstract :
The authors report on active mode-locking and wavelength tuning of an extended cavity laser diode array (LDA) using a self-pumped photorefractive phase conjugate mirror. They propose novel methods to shorten and shape pulses during mode-locking. One method utilizes a phase control of the applied AC modulation of two LDAs locked by a double phase conjugate mirror. A control of the relative distances of the LDAs from the mirror is also possible. Another method is based on two-wave mixing inside the extended cavity
