Abstract :
In this paper a fifth-order boost converter with true zero-current and zero-voltage transition (ZCZVT) of the main switch is proposed. Salient features of the converter, operating modes for continuous inductor current mode of operation are discussed. ZCZVT results in zero-voltage switching (ZVS) and zero-current switching (ZCS) for the main switch simultaneously. Furthermore, this scheme also results in softswitching for the remaining semiconductor devices. To verify the proposed soft-switching performance of the higher order converter PSIM simulations have been carried out on a 24 -to-100 V, 50 Watt prototype converter. Simulation results are in agreement with the theoretical predictions.
