Abstract
Propagation models for urban areas are fundamental in developing microcellular networks. Based on the physical mechanisms of the wave propagation process, the deterministic models can lead to high resolution field strength prediction as well as to a more thorough understanding of the propagation channel properties. One of the main challenges in deterministic modeling is the large size and number of obstacles in the propagation surroundings. In this paper, focusing on the power transmission aspect of the propagation process we divide the propagation process into basic elements and propose a modeling procedure. Preliminary 2-D simulation results of the field strength distribution in a city canyon are presented
