Abstract :
A method is described for generating suitable sets of polyphase codes and complex-valued convolution filters. While autocorrelation (matched filtering) of classical sequences provides the highest SNR, it often falls short of satisfying the high sidelobe suppression needs of many systems. Standard weighting techniques suppress sidelobe levels but are known to do so with a loss in SNR of 1 to 2 dB. With complex signal generation at baseband the method presented provides solutions which are Doppler tolerant and yield high sidelobe suppression along with SNR closely approaching the theoretical limit. Comparison is made with some classical codes of lengths near the example taken
