Abstract
We developed a prototype on-board BOCDA system for aircraft structural health monitoring. The temporal gating scheme and the polarization diversity technique were introduced to enhance the robustness of the BOCDA system. We measured the distributed Brillouin gain spectrum over a 500 m measurement range with 30 mm spatial resolution, 70 Hz sampling rate, and plusmn13 mu strain accuracy. As a result, we confirmed that the BOCDA system could be applied to aircraft structural health monitoring.
