Abstract :
The effect of using hot embossing to fabricate the microstructures through microporous mould is investigated. An ultrasonic welding machine is used to study the characteristics of polymer under ultrasonic vibration. The sandwich placement of polymer slices and mould lead to the dumbbell shape microstructures. The stainless steel moulds with different diameter micropores are used. Different welding time are attempted to discover the micro flow and conjugation behavior of PE (Polyethylene) and PC (Polycarbonate) in micropores of the mould. The varied shapes of microstructures get from the different diameter micropores indicate the capillarity plays a role during the welding process.
