Abstract :
Accurate material parameters of the door trim panel is a prerequisite to obtain accurate occupant collision responses in full-scale side crash simulation,. However, these parameters are usually difficult to be obtained directly. A side impact sled with the real door and B pillar was developed in this paper. The injury parameters of the side impact dummy (ES-2) were obtained from sled tests. The finite element model of the sled test was developed, Ls-dyna software was applied to simulate the crash. The material parameters of the door trim panel in the simulation model were changed to compare the injury parameters of the test results and simulation results. The parameters which made the dummy injuries of the simulation approach the test results most can be used in full-scale side impact simulation.
