Abstract :
Through a multidisciplinary approach based on flight mechanics and human factors, this study aims at finding new ways of safety enhancements during the approach and landing of a large civil aircraft. This article presents the overall process of a go around decision-making assistance design for the flight crew. This study resulted in the definition of a new kind of cockpit information, the Energy Stabilization Height, matching human factor constraints. The analysis of the physical problem ends up in an analytical approximation coupled with the resolution of an optimal problem. Numerical simulations were compared to simplified solutions and statistical results. The outcome of this concept could be a satisfying go around assistance tool.
