Abstract
Location management has been a challenge issue in WiMAX (worldwide interoperability of microwave access) mesh network, which is increasingly of popularity for its high reliability, scalability as well as low upfront investments. In this paper, we analyze theoretically in wireless mesh networks the performance of the location management scheme used wildly in existing mobile networks and compare it with that in typical cellular networks. The numerical result shows that the traditional scheme is not suitable for WiMAX mesh networks.
