Abstract
The authors extend their previous work (see IEEE Trans. Inf. Theory, vol.38, no.2, pt.1, p.426-8, 1992) and further investigate the uniform/lattice quantizer followed by a lossless entropy code. Specifically they find expressions for the rate of this coding technique for various implementation methods. They emphasize universal results, but also provide expressions for specific sources, e.g. the Gauss-Markov source. A detailed comparison to the optimal entropy constrained vector quantizer is also provided
